Weekend Project - Streditvia Vimeo Staff Blog
While I love producing professional-ish videos for Vimeo, I also enjoy making personal videos that help me remember my experiences.
Recently, I wanted to challenge myself and experiment with a new way of editing. I decided to take every clip I filmed during my trip to NAB in Las Vegas and bring them into a timeline, keeping all the shots in chronological order. From there, I trimmed and tweaked the clips (without changing the order) to fit the length of a song I downloaded and licensed from the Music Store.
Here’s the result!
An experimental video deserves an experimental name, so I’m calling this a Stredit — a “straight edit” of every clip on your camera in chronological order. No deleting clips! No altering the order!
This weekend, we want you to make your own Stredit. You can film a series of new clips covering an event or a day in your life, or, better yet, dig through the clips you abandoned from a previous shoot — perhaps your last travel adventure or holiday with your family. The latter method might be more challenging, but it’s also more rewarding. And hey, it’s how I approached the project!
The rules are simple:
1. Use every clip you took during a specific event.
2. Keep your clips in chronological order.
3. Trim your clips to showcase the very best parts. Because you might have a lot of footage, it’s helpful to set a time limit for yourself. Three minutes, or about the length of a song, is always a good choice.
When you’re finished, upload your video and submit it to the Weekend Project Group.
All submissions are due by Tuesday, May 1, at 11:59 p.m. (EST)
Only videos made specifically for this Project will be considered! I’ll be looking over each submission myself, so it might take a hot minute before you see your video in the Group. Be patient!
The winner will receive a free Plus account, or, if already a Plus member, some extra space in their weekly upload quota. I’m straight-up pumped to see your Stredits!
