I took this photo 4 years ago today in my beloved backyard in columbus, ohio. the me 4 years ago rode her bike just about everywhere. she baked a lot of cookies, and she loved watching Bella take sun naps on the back porch. with a giant cross country move just a few months away, 4 years ago me was terrified, trying to draw pictures in her head of what los angeles life would look like, but she was ready. so so ready to go. if I could whisper in the ear of 4 years ago me, I’d tell her to stop and enjoy more midwest sunsets. to pause under those giant oaks on the street and enjoy each lovely green leaf. I’d probably suggest she sit on the front porch during a thunderstorm (though I bet she would argue that the humidity would ruin her hair.) and I would promise her that though it doesn’t feel like it, those 5 columbus years will be remembered as some of her favorites. perspective, friends, changes everything. the good, the emotional, the tough and trying days. just sit back and give it a week. a month. 4 years. our friend perspective will do the rest.
My buddy @martinyeti dug this one out. #tbt to one of Ava’s first hunting trips. She would make it up top once and then sleep in my game bag. We also ate rabbits, had a cannon fired at us, @mrgrayfun #freedomreleased multiple cliffs, and a chukar carcass was successfully hidden in @jayhale’s snowboard bag till the TSA discovered it months later. Can’t wait for the best season! #englishsetter #chukar #publiclandrocks
